Marinated tofu is perfect as a main dish, since it is high in protein and its spiced flavor is delicious.

Tofu absorbs flavors very well and, in this particular case, since we marinate it for 12 hours, the resulting flavor is intense and full of character, reminding us a little of traditional pinchos. This makes it ideal for people who have not yet discovered the appeal of this food, since the way it is prepared, besides being very simple, leaves it well infused with flavor.

Tofu provides a good amount of protein, is low in fat and is cholesterol-free. It also contains vitamins E, K and B (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7 and B9 or folic acid), lecithins, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and omega-3, which helps lower cholesterol and protect the cardiovascular system. In addition, when it is made with calcium sulfate (which is the most common), it has a high calcium content (3 to 5 times more than cow's milk and with hardly any fat), which, combined with its isoflavone content, helps prevent bone decalcification and age-related osteoporosis.

On the other hand, the combination of spices that make up the marinade gives us extra doses of antioxidants, essential oils (especially thymol), fiber, flavonoids, vitamin A, copper, iron and zinc.
