This date syrup only needs 3 ingredients and 5 minutes to get ready and is a healthy and nutritious alternative to sugar, with a super creamy texture and a wonderful caramel flavor.

It is very similar to the date caramel that we use to make vegan ice cream with date caramel , but since this time the objective is to get a syrup that we can use at room temperature, and therefore, without risk of crystallizing, its texture is lighter and its more versatile result.

One of the advantages of this healthy sweetener is that with it we benefit from the fantastic nutrients of dates, thus enriching our preparations, both in taste and nutritional properties.

And, nutritionally, dates are an extraordinary source of tryptophan , fiber , carbohydrates , B vitamins (especially B3 and B5 ), calcium , copper , phosphorus , magnesium and potassium .

For all this, it is an ideal alternative to use in a wide variety of desserts and sweets such as biscuits, smoothies, bars, cakes or cold cakes and even to make vegetable milks and horchata.

Ingredients

  • 100 gr. medjoul dates (pitted)
  • 100 ml. water (hot)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend all the ingredients together in the mixer until obtaining a uniform and creamy texture. When the date syrup is ready, put it in a lidded glass jar and keep it in the fridge.

Notes

  • If you do not have medjoul dates, you can use normal dates hydrated in hot water for 10 minutes, well drained.
